SFTP

Using the Quickconnect feature

EITHER

Use these settings:

  • Set Host to an FQDN, for example nx.cs.uwindsor.ca
  • Set Username to your UWinID (all in lowercase characters)
  • Set Password to your campus password
  • Set Port to 22 (this is required if the host URL does not include the protocol prefix!)

Press the Quickconnect button to open a new SFTP file transfer session.

OR

Use these settings:

  • Set Host to a URL with an sftp:// prefix to the FQDN, example sftp://nx.cs.uwindsor.ca
  • Set Username to your UWinID (all in lowercase characters)
  • Set Password to your campus password
  • DO NOT set the Port value

Press the Quickconnect button to open a new SFTP file transfer session.

If you have used Quickconnect to connect to this or other servers, you can select a saved session from the pull-down list to the right of the Quickconnect button.

Configuring a connection using the Site Manager

Open the Site Manager from the File menu.

Use these settings in the General tab:

  • Set Protocol to SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol
  • Set Host to an FQDN, for example myweb.cs.uwindsor.ca
  • Set Username to your UWinID (all in lowercase characters)
  • Set Password to your campus password

Use this setting in the Transfer Settings tab:

  • Check Limit number of simultaneous connections
  • You can set the Maximum number of connections to between 1 and 5. If this number is too high, the server may blacklist your IP for attempting to open too many sessions simultaneously.
